Today’s featured song is I Miss You from Eien Densetsu. This is a personal favourite of mine, so I just had to include it!
I Miss You is a duet between Seiya and Usagi. Usagi is finally starting to grasp the reality of being apart from Mamoru and is struggling to stay her cheerful self without him. She is singing on the roof, thinking that she is alone. However, Seiya opens the door and hears her singing about the pain she is feeling. Able to relate because of her own loneliness, Seiya joins in on the song.
Here we can see that Seiya is really starting to fall in love with Usagi. While realizing that she can never replace Mamoru, Seiya promises that she will always protect and stay by Usagi’s side. It’s not exactly clear whether Usagi really hears Seiya’s singing or not. Usagi continues to sing about how she understands that love sometimes causes pain, Seiya wonders whether, knowing that, Usagi realizes how much Seiya loves her.
At the end of the song, Usagi still begs to the absent Mamoru for him not to leave her anymore, while Seiya, realizing she can never be that person for Usagi, admits that she feels alone when she is with her.
One of my all-time favorite Myu songs! Give it a listen :)
